Nylon Coating Services in Robesonia, PA
Rilsan nylon 11 is the core of what we do. Fusion Coatings, Inc. is an ISO 9001:2015 coating job shop in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, and we are listed on Arkema’s Rilsan fine powder applicator page for fluid bed dip, electrostatic spray and Minicoat. You send the print and the spec. We coat to it. There is no minimum order, lead time is about 2 weeks, and we serve customers across the US and Canada.
Nylon materials we apply
We apply Rilsan nylon 11 (Arkema). We also apply Interpon and Duralon nylon 11 and VESTOSINT nylon 12. Nylon is a thermoplastic, so it re-melts if the part is heated again, and the coating can be post-formed, machined or shaved. See every material we apply on our Materials page, or read the Nylon Coating Guide for nylon 11 versus nylon 12.
Three ways we apply nylon
Fluid bed dip: Parts up to 75 lbs. The part is preheated, then dipped into powder kept fluid by air. Typical thickness: 8 to 20 thousandths of an inch (0.2 to 0.5 mm).
Electrostatic (ES) spray: Parts up to 5 ft. Typical thickness: 4 to 6 thousandths of an inch (0.1 to 0.15 mm).
Minicoat: Small parts, coated hook-free with no hanging points or contact marks. Largest part 9 x 4 x 2 inches. Up to 10,000 small parts per hour. Typical thickness: From 4 thousandths of an inch (0.1 mm), heavier builds on request.
Thickness is set by your print. We coat to the product and thickness the design engineer specifies.
Why specify nylon
Nylon is specified for function: slip, sound dampening, and corrosion and chemical resistance. A nylon-coated part is slippery, which reduces friction and removes metal-to-metal noise. Our nylon coatings provide salt spray resistance of up to 2,000 hours depending on thickness, and more than 200 hours in a 5% chlorine (household bleach) solution.
Parts we nylon coat
Automotive clips and clamps, wiring-harness brackets, seat springs, glove-box and door strikers, drive and steering splines, drive shafts and yokes, aerospace clips and clamps, medical brackets, electrical components, lingerie clips and adjusters, and pipe flanges and linings. Substrates include steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Need nylon only where it counts? See selective coating, which leaves bare metal for fastening or grounding.
Medical brackets
We coat stainless steel and aluminum brackets for medical sterilization cases with Rilsan nylon 11. Every bracket is grit blasted and primed before coating. For some of this work, the end customer autoclave-tests the finished brackets to 200 hours. Fusion does not run or certify that test. We coat to your print and spec. More on our sterilization case bracket page.
OEM specification approvals
Fusion holds 26 automotive coating specification approvals: 9 Ford, 8 Stellantis and 9 GM. For nylon, we currently certify to GM GMW15645 Type IV (thin nylon 11 or nylon 12) and can certify to Type III (thick) when the print calls it out. We coat nylon to Ford WSS-M4D240-A2. See the full list on our Specification Approvals page.
A job shop that coats to your print and spec
We do not design or make parts. Send us the part print, the coating specification (product and thickness) and the quantities, and we coat to them. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified. Questions first? The Nylon Coating FAQ covers nylon 11 versus 12, thickness, processes, lead time and how to request a quote.
